We are on the south side of the planet, so here we have a different time for everything. While you are out there, enjoying your long days, and summer activities, we are here freezing (ok, not exactly freezing, because we are having a pretty warm winter, but you got the point). And the same happens with flowers. Sakura (or cherry blossoms, or fleur de cerisier, or how you wanna call it) are blooming here. There’s a garden full of them in a city 40 minutes away from mine. We went there one sunday and spent the whole day admiring those beauties. The day before was so rainy, so they cancelled all the festivities, which was nice, because it was so empty we could walk so peaceful and take as many pictures as we wanted. And we did! I finished my Fuji Pro 400H roll there and started a Portra 800, which I didn’t develop yet! Sakura reminds me of that Kill Bill scene with Uma Thurman and Lucy Liu, so I kept singing Nancy Sinatra’s “Bang bang” in my head (and sometimes out loud, lol) the whole time I was there. Is there anyone in the whole wide world who doesn’t love this song?

a good day
This will be a very personal post. VERY.
A couple months ago, me and my boyfriend argued about goals in life. I think every once in a while couples go through that... Where is this relationship going and all the stuff. Then, in a calm, warm afternoon, he calls me up to see something. A piece of ground, where it will be OUR house. And I was so happy. From 2 streets up, you can see a little bit of the city (first and second photo). Then we took a ride on the complex (it’s a house complex, it has - actually will have - tennis courts, playground and all these facilities) and then as we were leaving, the sky was literally on fire. It was so beautiful. Probably one of the most incredible sunsets I’ve ever saw. I don’t believe in many things, but I want to believe it was a way of my late father say “don’t worry. I’m not there, but I’m here. And everything will be alright"

la caféine
I am a coffee/tea addicted. There, I said it. The kind of person who can't go through a day without a cup? Me. Sometimes I enjoy to photograph also, but not every time. There are times, when I’m with some non-photographer friend, we tend to talk more than anything else so I won’t waste the moment taking a shot. But I do love the ritual on hot beverages. Sugar, honey, too much, too little, the spoon, the cream, the non-cream, the talking while stirring it.
On that day I went to an Organic Café near home, with my cousin. I ordered Macchiato, and she ordered Camomile tea. It was a good day.
I wonder if I like the ritual more than the drink itself, haha. I was doing a series, called “caffeine of the day” on my instagram last week (it’s easier to pull out the phone instead of a camera), thinking about doing it around here too. Probably not that constantly, but maybe “caffeine of the month”?! What do you think?

love on film
A few days ago, I was shooting an e-session of a very nice couple. It was late afternoon, almost sunset (my favorite time of the day), and I asked them if I could do a few shots on film. They said yes and so I did. Is it weird that I connect better with this shots than with the ones I took with my digital? Is it weird that I find them more romantic? Well, I actually do.
Hope you like it.

hopeless case
I was just answering a few comments and I realized it has been almost 2 weeks since the last time I blogged! Too much!
I can say I'm stuck with work (which is true), I can say I'm bored (which is also true) but excuses won't help. I started this as a way to keep my photographs and their stories in a space, but, as it happens quite often in my life, I start to let it go for many reasons. Sometimes (like 80% of the time) I just let the routine take over my creativity, sometimes I think my photos aren't good enough (being sensitive suck sometimes), and sometimes I'm just too lazy to keep up a project.
Does it happens with you too? Or am I a hopeless case?

wishing and hoping
So it was my goddaughter's 9th birthday, june 8th. It was a really good day. We had homemade pasta (as you already saw here), friends and family over my brother's house, she had her cousins with her, it was really nice. Sometimes I look at her and I can't believe it has been so long since she was a baby. She's so tall now, and independent, and beautiful. Time is so tricky. When I realize how fast time is moving, it makes me wanna live the moment even more.

Happiness
I was thinking the other day, running into my timeline on facebook: if no one knows I'm happy, am I happy? In times of social media I have the impression people's happiness is fake. Dinners are so fancy, pick nicks are perfectly designed, "selfies" always shows smiley pretty faces. It's easy to think your life is miserable when everyone is doing cool things while you're laying in your sofa watching tennis. We never took that many photos before, in the history, but we never not-live the moment like this. People are so crazy about taking a picture to upload on facebook or instagram all the time, that while their face is glued to the phone screen, life is actually happening. That's what I like most on film photography. It slows me down to what really matters: the photograph, the subject and life.

Cat Lover
I don't know if you noticed, but I love cats. My baby Boris is the brother of the lovely Dory. She lives with my brother, his wife and their 2 beautiful girls (Dory became Dory because when we adopted them (we adopted together), we thought they were both male, so I named mine Boris and my brother and his girls named theirs Nemo. A few weeks later we realize she was a female so we changed to Dory, lol). Now Dory had kids! 2 of them were already adopted, there's still 3 more to go. One of them is really shy, so he wasn't in the mood for photos. Bat and CJ were more friendly, though.
We are a human family who shares a cat family. Or something like that.

Homemade Pasta
My sister-in-law is a great chef trying to conquer the world. While it doesn't happen we take advantage of being testers of those yummy recipes.
I don't have pictures of it when it was ready because I was too busy, if you know what I mean ;-)
